Key Responsibilities of VP, Global Logistics & Fulfillment with a Major E-commerce Platform – Dallas, TX
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive global logistics and fulfillment strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term growth objectives. Champion supply chain initiatives at the executive level, ensuring resource allocation and cross-functional alignment.
Global Network Design & Optimization
Continuously evaluate and optimize the global network of fulfillment centers, 3PL partners, and transportation routes. Lead network modeling, capacity planning, and site selection efforts to support market expansion and improve service levels.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Implement and enforce best-in-class operational standards across all fulfillment and logistics functions. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including on-time delivery, cost-per-shipment, order accuracy, and inventory health.
Financial & Budgetary Management
Assume full P&L responsibility for the global logistics and fulfillment budget. Develop annual operating plans, forecasts, and capital expenditure requests. Meticulously manage costs and identify strategic opportunities for efficiency and savings without compromising quality or customer experience.
Technology & Systems Innovation
Spearhead the evaluation and implementation of cutting-edge supply chain technologies, including advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), robotics, and automation. Leverage data analytics, AI, and machine learning to improve forecasting, network efficiency, and decision-making.
Vendor & Partner Relationship Management
Lead the sourcing, negotiation, and management of contracts with key third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ocean and air freight carriers, parcel carriers, and technology vendors. Cultivate strategic partnerships to drive innovation and create a competitive advantage.
Inventory Strategy & Control
Collaborate with Merchandising and Planning teams to develop and execute a global inventory strategy. Oversee inventory placement, accuracy, and control across the network to optimize in-stock levels, maximize turn, and minimize carrying costs. Implement robust cycle counting programs and ensure SOX compliance.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire a large, multi-tiered organization of logistics and fulfillment professionals across multiple continents. Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable culture. Develop talent and build a robust leadership pipeline to support future growth.
Global Trade & Compliance
Ensure all import/export and transportation activities adhere to international trade laws and regulations. Develop and manage a robust compliance program to mitigate risks associated with customs, duties, and tariffs in a complex global market.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a key strategic partner to other executive leaders, including the heads of Technology, Merchandising, Finance, and Customer Service. Ensure seamless integration and communication between the supply chain and all other facets of the business to deliver a cohesive and superior end-to-end customer journey. Requirements for the VP, Global Logistics & Fulfillment with a Major E-commerce Platform – Dallas, TX
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, logistics, and fulfillment operations, with at least 7 years in a senior executive capacity (VP, SVP, or equivalent) overseeing a large, global organization.
E-commerce Expertise
Demonstrable and deep experience within a high-volume, high-SKU, direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce or omnichannel retail environment is mandatory.
Global Scale
Proven success in managing a complex, large-scale global logistics network, including company-owned and 3PL-operated fulfillment centers, international freight, and multi-modal transportation.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Technical Proficiency
Expert-level knowledge of modern Tier-1 WMS, TMS, and ERP systems. Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, with proficiency in using data to inform strategy and drive operational improvements.
Leadership Acumen
Exceptional and proven leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and motivate a world-class team. A track record of attracting and retaining top talent and fostering a positive, high-energy work environment.
Financial Acumen
Extensive experience managing a significant P&L, developing complex budgets, and negotiating multi-million dollar contracts. A keen understanding of the financial levers within a supply chain.
Strategic Mindset
The ability to think strategically and long-term, while also being able to dive into the details and drive tactical execution. A history of successful strategic planning and implementation.
Communication Skills
Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills. The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to a wide range of audiences, from warehouse associates to the Board of Directors.
Certifications
Professional certifications such as CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) or CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution) from APICS/ASCM are highly desirable.
Location
The position is based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX. The candidate must be willing to be based in or relocate to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
