Key Responsibilities of Head of Corporate Communications with a Public Tech Firm – Seattle, WA
Strategic Communications Leadership
Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, multi-channel corporate communications strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives, mission, and values. Act as a senior counselor to the C-suite and board on all communication-related issues, opportunities, and risks.
Investor Relations & Financial Communications
In close partnership with the CFO and Investor Relations team, lead the communications strategy for all financial milestones. This includes drafting and refining earnings releases, shareholder letters, annual reports, conference call scripts, and other materials for the investment community. Ensure all communications comply with regulatory standards and accurately reflect the company’s financial health and strategic direction. Manage the communication aspects of all relevant SEC filings.
Media Relations & Spokespersonship
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with top-tier business, financial, and technology journalists, editors, and influencers. Serve as a primary corporate spokesperson, effectively representing the company in media interviews, press conferences, and public forums. Proactively secure positive media coverage that enhances the company’s reputation and market position.
Crisis & Reputation Management
Develop and lead the company’s crisis communications preparedness and response strategy. Act as the central point of command during any issue or crisis that threatens the company’s reputation, providing calm and decisive leadership to navigate challenging situations and mitigate risk.
Executive Communications & Thought Leadership
Create and manage a robust executive communications platform for the CEO and other key leaders. This includes speechwriting, developing presentations, authoring bylined articles, and securing high-profile speaking opportunities to establish them as industry thought leaders.
Internal & Employee Communications
Oversee the internal communications function to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with the company’s strategy and culture. Develop communication plans for major internal announcements, organizational changes, and company milestones to foster a transparent and connected workplace.
Content & Digital Strategy
Direct the content strategy for corporate-owned digital platforms, including the corporate website, newsroom, blog, and social media channels. Ensure a consistent brand voice and narrative across all external-facing materials, from press releases to corporate fact sheets.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a world-class communications team. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, manage agency partners, and oversee the department’s budget and resource allocation to maximize impact and efficiency.
Requirements for the Head of Corporate Communications with a Public Tech Firm – Seattle, WA
Extensive Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role. Crucially, this experience must include significant time working in-house for a publicly-traded technology company.
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
Financial Acumen
Deep, demonstrable experience in financial communications and a thorough understanding of investor relations. Proven ability to translate complex financial information and business strategy into clear, compelling narratives for investors, analysts, and financial media.
Media Relations Mastery
A proven track record of building successful, long-term relationships with top-tier global media outlets and a portfolio of significant, positive media placements. Experience serving as an on-the-record spokesperson is essential.

Exceptional Communication Skills
