As the Vice President of FP&A, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and serve as a key member of the finance leadership team. You will be the primary architect of the company’s financial roadmap, responsible for all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. The VP, FP&A will have a broad range of responsibilities, encompassing strategic finance, operational analysis, and team leadership. Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the development of the company’s long-range financial plan (LRP), working closely with the executive team to align financial forecasts with strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and strategic decision-making.
- Partner with the corporate development team on M&A activities, including target evaluation, financial due diligence, valuation modeling, and post-acquisition integration planning.
- Provide insightful analysis on market trends, competitive landscape, and key business drivers to identify risks and opportunities for growth.
- Champion the implementation of financial planning and analysis best practices to enhance the strategic value of the finance function.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting
- Own and manage the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop challenging but achievable targets.
- Implement and oversee a rolling forecast process to provide an accurate and up-to-date view of business performance throughout the year.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the executive team, Board of Directors, and PE sponsors, highlighting key variances, trends, and insights.
- Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and SaaS metrics, such as ARR, LTV, CAC, churn, and net revenue retention, providing deep-dive analysis to explain performance.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting and analysis produced by the FP&A team.
Business Partnership & Decision Support
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to functional leaders across the organization (Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, etc.), providing analytical support to help them manage their P&Ls and achieve their goals.
- Lead financial analysis for critical business decisions, including pricing strategies, new product introductions, capital investments, and resource allocation.
- Develop robust financial models to assess the ROI of various initiatives and investments.
- Partner with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop sales capacity models, commission plans, and marketing spend effectiveness analysis.
Team Leadership & Development

Requirements for the VP, FP&A with a PE-backed Technology Company – Salt Lake City, UT
We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished finance executive with a proven track record of success in high-growth, PE-backed technology environments. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA and/or CPA designation is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 7 years in a senior FP&A leadership role.
Crucial Experience
Demonstrable experience working within a private equity-backed company is a firm requirement. Candidates must understand the pace, rigor, and reporting requirements of a PE-owned environment.
Industry Expertise
Deep experience in the B2B SaaS or technology industry is strongly preferred. A thorough understanding of SaaS business models and metrics is essential.
M&A Proficiency
Proven experience supporting M&A activities, from financial due diligence through to post-merger integration.
Technical Skills
Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must. Extensive experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and EPM/BI tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Planful, Anaplan, Tableau) is required.
