The Managing Director’s responsibilities are comprehensive and require a blend of strategic oversight, hands-on execution, and team leadership. The role encompasses the full investment lifecycle and firm-wide strategic initiatives.
Investment Strategy and Sourcing
- Develop and refine investment theses across various private equity strategies, including buyout, growth equity, venture capital, and distressed debt, tailored to the firm’s mandate and market conditions.
- Proactively source a robust pipeline of investment opportunities, leveraging an extensive, proprietary network of General Partners (GPs), intermediaries, and industry contacts.
- Lead thematic research and deep-dive sector analysis to identify attractive market segments and top-tier managers.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, annual meetings, and networking events to enhance market presence and cultivate key relationships.
Due Diligence and Execution
- Lead all aspects of the investment due diligence process for primary, secondary, and co-investment opportunities. This includes comprehensive evaluation of the manager’s track record, investment strategy, team composition, organizational structure, and alignment of interests.
- Oversee the creation of sophisticated financial models, valuation analyses, and portfolio impact projections to support investment recommendations.
- Conduct in-depth reference checks and on-site visits to assess the qualitative aspects of potential partners.
- Structure and negotiate complex legal and economic terms in Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), side letters, and other transaction documents.
- Prepare and present detailed investment memorandums and recommendations to the firm’s Investment Committee, clearly articulating the investment thesis, key risks, and mitigating factors.
Portfolio Management and Monitoring
- Actively monitor the performance of the existing portfolio of fund investments, maintaining a dynamic dialogue with GPs to stay abreast of underlying portfolio company performance and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze quarterly reports, attend annual meetings, and serve on Limited Partner Advisory Committees (LPACs) where applicable.

Team Leadership and Firm Contribution
