We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President of Plant Management to join their executive team in San Jose, CA. Key Responsibilities of VP, Plant Management with an Electronics Manufacturer – San Jose, CA

Strategic Leadership & Execution

Develop and implement the long-range strategic plan for all plant operations, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives. Translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans, setting clear KPIs and performance metrics to drive success.

Operational Excellence

Direct and manage all plant activities, including production planning, manufacturing engineering, assembly, quality assurance, testing, maintenance, and logistics. Champion and embed continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

Financial & P&L Management

Assume full P&L responsibility for the manufacturing plant. Develop, manage, and execute the annual operating budget, capital expenditure plans, and cost-control initiatives. Analyze financial performance and operational data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and profitability enhancement.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of directors and managers. Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and collaboration. Oversee workforce planning, talent acquisition, training programs, and performance management to build a world-class manufacturing organization.

Quality & Compliance Assurance

Uphold the highest standards of product quality and reliability. Ensure the facility and its processes are in strict compliance with all industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001), regulatory requirements, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies. Drive a zero-defect and zero-incident culture.

Supply Chain & Inventory Optimization

Collaborate closely with the supply chain organization to ensure seamless material flow, optimize inventory levels, and manage supplier performance. Develop strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and improve material cost-effectiveness.

Technology & Innovation

Drive the evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0/Smart Factory initiatives. Champion innovation to enhance production capabilities, improve product quality, and maintain a competitive edge.

Executive Collaboration & Reporting

Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing regular, transparent updates on plant performance, key initiatives, and challenges. Collaborate effectively with R&D, Sales, and Finance to ensure manufacturing is aligned with new product introductions and market demands.

Requirements for the VP, Plant Management with an Electronics Manufacturer – San Jose, CA

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment (e.g., semiconductors, consumer electronics, telecommunications hardware). At least 7 years of experience in a senior plant leadership role (e.g., Director of Operations, Plant Manager) with full P&L and budgetary responsibility is essential.

Technical Expertise

Deep and comprehensive knowledge of modern electronics manufacturing processes, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), and complex final product assembly and testing.

Methodology Proficiency

Proven expertise in implementing and leading continuous improvement programs. Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification is highly desirable. Extensive, hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing principles is mandatory.

Leadership Skills

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop large, diverse teams. A demonstrated history of building a strong culture of accountability and excellence.

Business Acumen

Strong financial and analytical skills. Must be adept at data-driven decision-making, financial modeling, and strategic planning.
