Key Responsibilities of VP, Investment Management with a Wealth Manager – Miami, FL
Portfolio Construction & Management
Design, implement, and actively manage customized investment portfolios tailored to the unique goals, risk tolerance, and financial circumstances of HNW and UHNW clients. This includes conducting rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and ongoing performance monitoring.
Strategic & Tactical Asset Allocation
Lead the development of the firm’s asset allocation strategies. Formulate long-term strategic outlooks while making tactical adjustments based on evolving market conditions, economic data, and geopolitical events.
Investment Research & Due Diligence
Conduct in-depth research and analysis across a wide spectrum of asset classes, including public equities, fixed income, alternative investments (private equity, hedge funds, real estate), and structured products. Perform rigorous due diligence on external managers and investment vehicles.
Market Analysis & Economic Commentary
Stay at the forefront of global economic trends and capital market developments. Synthesize complex information to produce insightful market commentary, white papers, and presentations for both internal teams and clients.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary investment contact for a select group of key clients. Effectively communicate investment strategy, performance, and market outlooks during client meetings, reviews, and calls. Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships.
Risk Management & Compliance
Implement and oversee robust risk management frameworks for all client portfolios. Ensure all investment activities are in strict compliance with firm policies and relevant SEC regulations and fiduciary standards.
Performance Reporting & Attribution
Oversee the generation of comprehensive and accurate client performance reports. Conduct detailed performance attribution analysis to understand and articulate the key drivers of portfolio returns.
Mentorship & Team Collaboration
Mentor and guide junior analysts and associates, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, and analytical rigor. Collaborate closely with wealth advisors, financial planners, and other team members to deliver a seamless and integrated client experience.
Technology & Process Improvement
Leverage investment management software and financial technology (e.g., Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, portfolio management systems) to enhance analytical capabilities and operational efficiency. Identify and recommend improvements to the investment process.
Requirements for the VP, Investment Management with a Wealth Manager – Miami, FL
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
Professional Certifications
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is strongly required. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or other relevant certification is a plus.
Experience
A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in investment management, portfolio management, or investment research within a wealth management firm, family office, or asset management company.
