You will lead all aspects of strategic sourcing, procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and distribution. Key Responsibilities of Chief Supply Chain Officer – New York, NY

The Chief Supply Chain Officer will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Global Supply Chain Strategy

Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive global supply chain strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term growth objectives, financial targets, and commitment to quality. Champion initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks across the supply network.

Executive Leadership & Collaboration

Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing critical insights and guidance on all supply chain matters. Foster strong, collaborative relationships with R&D, Manufacturing, Commercial, Quality Assurance, and Finance to ensure seamless new product introductions and sustained supply.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

Lead and mature the global S&OP process to effectively balance demand and supply. Drive consensus-based planning to improve forecast accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and enhance customer service levels.

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

Oversee the global procurement function, developing and implementing sophisticated sourcing strategies for direct and indirect materials. Cultivate robust, long-term relationships with key suppliers, and lead negotiations to ensure favorable terms, quality, and continuity of supply. Implement rigorous supplier performance management programs.

Logistics, Warehousing & Distribution

Design and manage a global logistics and distribution network that ensures the timely, secure, and compliant delivery of medical devices. This includes oversight of transportation, trade compliance, and management of third-party logistics (3PL) partners, with a specific focus on cold chain and sterile product handling where applicable.

Inventory Management & Optimization

Implement best-in-class inventory management strategies to optimize working capital, minimize excess and obsolete inventory, and ensure high levels of product availability. Utilize advanced analytical tools to establish appropriate safety stock levels and reorder points across a multi-echelon network.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

Guarantee that all supply chain operations adhere to the strictest regulatory and quality standards, including those set by the FDA, EMA, and other international bodies. Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), and other relevant industry regulations. You will be responsible for ensuring the entire supply chain is audit-ready and maintains impeccable documentation and traceability, fully compliant with all FDA regulations.

Technology & Digital Transformation

Drive the digital transformation of the supply chain by championing and implementing advanced technologies such as ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), advanced planning systems (APS), and data analytics platforms to enhance visibility, predictability, and decision-making.

Team Development & Mentorship

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, globally dispersed supply chain organization. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning, attracting and retaining top-tier talent.

Financial & Performance Management

Develop and manage the annual supply chain budget, capital expenditure plans, and cost-saving initiatives. Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance and demonstrate the value of supply chain initiatives to the executive team and board.

Requirements for the Chief Supply Chain Officer – New York, NY

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned and strategic supply chain executive with a proven track record of success within the medical device or a related, highly regulated industry.

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., VP, SVP, or CSCO) with global responsibility.

Industry Expertise

Deep and demonstrable experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry is mandatory. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of the unique challenges and regulatory complexities of a healthcare supply chain.

Regulatory Knowledge

Expert-level knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485, and other international medical device standards. Experience successfully navigating FDA inspections and other regulatory audits is essential.

Transformational Leadership

Proven experience in transforming and scaling a supply chain function in a high-growth environment. Must demonstrate a history of successful strategy development and execution that resulted in measurable improvements in cost, quality, and service.

Global Operations Acumen

Extensive experience managing complex, global supply chains, including international sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics.

Financial & Analytical Skills

Strong financial acumen with experience managing a P&L, developing budgets, and building business cases for strategic investments. Highly analytical and data-driven approach to problem-solving.

Technical Proficiency

Hands-on experience with Tier 1 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), as well as WMS, TMS, and advanced planning software.

Communication & Influence

Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. The ability to influence and build consensus among a wide range of stakeholders, from the C-suite to the shop floor.
