Key Responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer – San Diego, CA

Strategic Vision and Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive long-term strategic plan that drives revenue growth, profitability, and increases shareholder value. Articulate the company’s mission and vision to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in across the organization.

Financial & P&L Management

Assume full P&L responsibility for the entire organization. Oversee budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, and capital allocation. Lead future financing rounds (venture, private equity, or public markets) as required to fuel growth.

Commercial Strategy & Execution

Spearhead the global commercial strategy, including sales, marketing, market access, and business development. Drive product launches, build and scale a world-class commercial team, and establish dominant market share in key geographies.

Operational Excellence

Provide oversight for all company operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and scalability in manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance. Implement best-in-class processes to optimize performance and mitigate risk.

Regulatory & Clinical Affairs

Champion a culture of quality and compliance. Guide the company through the complex global regulatory landscape, ensuring timely product approvals and adherence to all applicable standards. This includes a deep understanding of FDA regulations, CE marking, and other international requirements.

Product Innovation and R&D

Board and Investor Relations

Requirements for the Chief Executive Officer – San Diego, CA

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a C-level or General Manager role (CEO, President, COO) with full P&L responsibility within the medical device industry.

Industry Expertise

A proven track record of success in the medical device sector is mandatory. Experience with Class II or Class III devices, and a history of successfully bringing products from development through regulatory approval (PMA/510(k)) to successful commercial launch is essential.

Commercial Acumen

Demonstrated success in building and leading commercial organizations, driving significant revenue growth, and establishing strong market positions. Global commercialization experience is highly desirable.

Financial & Fundraising Skills

Strong financial acumen with experience managing a P&L of significant scale. A proven ability to raise capital from venture capital, private equity, and/or public markets is a significant asset.

Leadership Qualities

A visionary and strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into actionable, results-driven plans. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the presence to inspire confidence and credibility among all stakeholders.

Educational Background

An advanced degree such as an MBA, MD, or PhD is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific, engineering, or business discipline is required.

Regulatory Knowledge

In-depth understanding of the global medical device regulatory environment, including FDA, MDR, and other international frameworks.

Location
