Key Responsibilities of Director of Retail Operations
The Director of Retail Operations will be responsible for a broad spectrum of duties essential to the success and growth of our client’s retail division. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive retail operational strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives. Continuously analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Operational Excellence
Drive best-in-class operational standards across all retail locations, ensuring consistency in store presentation, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service protocols. Establish and monitor KPIs to track performance and identify areas for optimization.
Financial Performance & Budget Management
Manage the retail operations budget, including sales forecasting, expense control, and profitability analysis. Implement strategies to achieve sales targets, improve margins, and optimize operational costs.
Team Leadership & Development

Compliance & Risk Management

Store Expansion & Development

Visual Merchandising & Store Presentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Requirements for the Director of Retail Operations
To be successful in this demanding yet rewarding role, candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership and expertise in retail operations. The ideal candidate will possess:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in retail operations management, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Regional Manager, Director of Operations) overseeing multiple locations or a significant retail portfolio.
Industry Knowledge
