Key Responsibilities of Director of Product Management (Tools)
Strategic Vision & Roadmap Development
Define and articulate a compelling product vision and strategy for our internal tools ecosystem, aligning it with company-wide goals and anticipating future organizational needs. Develop, maintain, and communicate a clear, prioritized product roadmap that reflects business value, technical feasibility, and stakeholder priorities.
Product Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented product managers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and high performance. Provide guidance on product discovery, definition, and delivery processes, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership
Build strong, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, including engineering leads, design teams, operations managers, and executive leadership. Act as the primary interface between product and other departments, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and successful execution of product initiatives.
User-Centric Product Discovery
Conduct in-depth user research, gather feedback, and analyze internal usage data to identify pain points, opportunities, and unmet needs of our internal customers (e.g., engineers, data scientists, HR, finance). Translate these insights into actionable product requirements and user stories.
Product Definition & Execution

Requirements for the Director of Product Management (Tools)
Experience
10+ years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing product managers. Significant experience (5+ years) specifically working on internal tools, platforms, developer experience, or enterprise software is highly preferred.
Technical Background
Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with software development lifecycles, API design, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data analytics tools, and modern web technologies. While not a coding role, the ability to engage in technical discussions and understand architectural implications is essential.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
