The Opportunity
Our client, a high-growth, venture-backed cardiovascular device company, is seeking a transformative and results-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be fully responsible for the company’s overall strategy, operational execution, and financial performance. This leader will serve as the chief evangelist and fundraiser, driving the company through its next phase of product development, clinical trials, regulatory approvals, and global commercialization. Key Responsibilities
The CEO will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s leadership and management.
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and execute a clear, long-term corporate strategy in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Serve as the external face of the company, articulating a compelling vision to investors, partners, clinicians, and employees.
- Navigate the complex and dynamic cardiovascular device market, identifying new opportunities and mitigating risks.
Investor Relations & Capital Strategy
- Serve as the primary fundraiser and maintain strong relationships with the current investor base (VC, PE).
- Lead future financing rounds to ensure the company is well-capitalized to achieve its key milestones.
- Provide transparent and timely updates to the Board and investors, managing all board-level activities.
R&D, Clinical & Regulatory Oversight
- Provide strategic leadership for the product pipeline, from R&D through product launch.
- Oversee the clinical and regulatory strategy, ensuring a clear and efficient pathway to FDA and OUS approvals (e.g., PMA/510k, CE Mark).
- Ensure all activities are compliant with FDA QSR, ISO 13485, and other global regulatory requirements.
Commercialization & Market Growth
- In partnership with the commercial leadership team, build and execute the global go-to-market strategy.
- Guide the development of market access and reimbursement strategies to ensure successful commercial adoption.
- Build and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the cardiovascular community.
Operational & Financial Management
- Assume full P&L responsibility, driving the company to achieve key financial and operational goals.
- Recruit, build, and lead a high-performance, results-oriented executive leadership team.
- Foster a strong, positive, and mission-driven corporate culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
- Oversee the build-out of scalable manufacturing, quality, and supply chain operations.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a proven, battle-tested MedTech CEO or senior executive with deep domain expertise in the cardiovascular space.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the medical device industry.
- Proven senior leadership experience as a CEO, President, or General Manager with P&L responsibility.
- Direct and deep experience in the cardiovascular device space (e.g., interventional cardiology, structural heart, electrophysiology) is essential.
- Demonstrable track record of successfully raising significant capital (e.g., Series B/C/D, an IPO, or from PE).
- Experience leading a company through the full product lifecycle: from clinical development and regulatory approval (FDA Class III/PMA preferred) to successful commercial launch.
- Strong financial acumen and experience working closely with a Board of Directors.
- BA/BS in a technical or business field.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Minneapolis, MN.
