Key Responsibilities of COO (Food & Beverage) – Austin TX

The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for a broad spectrum of critical functions, ensuring seamless execution and strategic alignment across the organization. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Leadership & Vision Execution

Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive team to define and articulate the company’s strategic vision, translating it into actionable operational plans and ensuring successful execution across all departments. Drive long-term growth initiatives and market expansion strategies.

Operational Excellence & Efficiency

Oversee all operational aspects, including production, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, distribution, and facilities management. Implement best-in-class operational processes, systems, and technologies to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Financial Performance Management

Take ownership of the operational P&L, developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial models. Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and margin improvement. Ensure robust financial controls and reporting mechanisms are in place.

Supply Chain Management & Optimization

Lead the end-to-end supply chain strategy, from sourcing and procurement to inventory management and distribution. This includes developing and implementing strategies for efficient sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and robust vendor relationship management. A critical aspect will be driving sustainable supply chain practices, ensuring ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility, which is increasingly vital for modern food and beverage businesses. Team Leadership & Development

Customer Experience & Quality Assurance

Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring that all operational processes contribute to an exceptional customer experience. Oversee quality control and assurance programs to maintain the highest standards of product quality and food safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Technology & Digital Transformation

Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and digital solutions to improve operational efficiency, data analytics, and overall business performance. Drive automation and system integration where beneficial.

Risk Management & Compliance

Develop and implement robust risk management strategies for operations, including contingency planning. Ensure strict adherence to all food safety regulations (FDA, USDA), health codes, labor laws, and other relevant industry standards.

Expansion & Growth Initiatives

Play a critical role in evaluating and executing growth opportunities, including new market entry, facility expansion, and potential mergers or acquisitions from an operational due diligence perspective.

Requirements for the COO (Food & Beverage) – Austin TX

To be successful in this challenging yet rewarding role, candidates should possess a comprehensive blend of experience, skills, and personal attributes:

Extensive Executive Experience

Minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with at least 5-7 years in a COO or VP of Operations role within the Food & Beverage industry. Experience in both manufacturing/production and consumer-facing aspects (retail, hospitality, CPG) is highly preferred.

Industry Expertise

Deep understanding of the Food & Beverage landscape, including supply chain dynamics, production processes, distribution channels, quality control, food safety regulations, and market trends.

Proven Leadership & Team Building

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.

Location
