Responsibilities of the Director of Construction:

As the Director of Construction for K-12 schools, you will:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee multiple K-12 school construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Team Management: Lead cross-functional teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to meet project objectives.
  • Client Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact with school boards, local agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Monitor budgets, control costs, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Quality and Safety Oversight: Ensure all projects meet quality standards and comply with local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to streamline project delivery.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in construction leadership, with a focus on public infrastructure or educational facilities.
  • Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction management processes, safety standards, and Florida building regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software and tools (Procore preferred).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or PMP certification are a plus.
