JRG Partners has been exclusively retained by a rapidly scaling, data-native technology organization to recruit a transformative Chief Data Officer (CDO). This is a fully remote executive position, offering the unique opportunity to define the data DNA of a company that views information not just as a byproduct of operations, but as its most valuable strategic asset.
We are seeking a visionary leader who bridges the gap between technical engineering and business strategy. The ideal candidate is an evangelist for Data-Driven Decision Making, capable of building a modern data architecture that supports Generative AI, advanced predictive analytics, and real-time business intelligence. You will be the architect of the company’s “Data Culture,” shifting the organization from reactive reporting to proactive, predictive insights that drive revenue and market share.
About the Organization
Our client is a disruptor in their sector, managing petabytes of complex, proprietary data. They have successfully transitioned from legacy on-premise systems to a cloud-native environment and are now poised to unlock the full potential of their data assets. With a distributed workforce and a culture built on autonomy and transparency, they require a leader who can manage high-performing remote teams across time zones.
The organization recognizes that the next phase of growth will be powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The CDO will report directly to the CEO (or CTO/CIO) and will hold a mandate to democratize data access across the enterprise while ensuring rigorous governance, security, and compliance in an increasingly regulated global landscape.
Key Responsibilities
The CDO will own the enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy, leading a diverse team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Governance Analysts.
Data Strategy & Monetization

Strategic Vision: Define and execute a multi-year Data Strategy that aligns with corporate objectives, focusing on how data can accelerate product innovation, optimize customer experiences, and streamline operations.
Data Monetization: Identify and develop new revenue streams through the commercialization of data products, turning internal data assets into external value propositions (e.g., benchmarking reports, API data feeds, predictive models).
AI Readiness: Lead the organization’s AI roadmap, preparing the data infrastructure to support Generative AI (LLMs) and machine learning use cases while establishing ethical guidelines for AI deployment.

Data Governance, Privacy & Ethics

Governance Framework: Design and implement a robust Data Governance framework that ensures data accuracy, consistency, and reliability (Data Quality) across the enterprise. Establish “Data Stewards” within business units to decentralized ownership.
Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the ultimate authority on data privacy, ensuring strict adherence to global regulations including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and industry-specific standards (e.g., HIPAA or PCI-DSS).
Master Data Management (MDM): Oversee the creation of a “Single Source of Truth” for critical business entities (Customer, Product, Supplier), eliminating data silos and fragmentation.

Architecture & Infrastructure

Modern Data Stack: Direct the evolution of the data platform, overseeing the selection and optimization of cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., dbt, Fivetran, Airflow).

Required Qualifications

15+ years of progressive experience in Data, Analytics, or Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role (CDO, CAO, VP of Data) at a mid-to-large scale technology or digital enterprise.
Technical Depth: Deep understanding of modern data architectures (Data Mesh, Data Fabric), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), and the modern data stack.
Governance Expertise: Proven track record of implementing Data Governance programs from scratch in a complex, regulated environment.
AI Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading Data Science and AI/ML teams to deploy models into production that generated measurable business value.
